Doug joined Shasta in 2016 to lead investments in Enterprise Cloud startups. He was the first investor in Marketo (MKTO) and served on its Board for 10 years, helping the company grow from an idea into an industry-leading public company. Doug’s current investments include Braze, Beautiful.ai, Highspot, People.ai, Sendbird, Skilljar and Spredfast.
Prior to Shasta, Doug was a general partner at InterWest Partners for 15 years. He has supported dozens of SaaS startups and led investments in Braze, Flurry (acquired by Yahoo), INVIDI (acquired by AT&T & WPP), Lombardi (acquired by IBM), Marketo (IPO), Markettools (acquired by SurveyMonkey), NewsCred, Opal, Optimizely, Outbound.io (acquired by Zendesk), Spredfast, Totango and Varolii (acquired by Nuance Communications). He is an investor in leading seed funds Angelpad, Homebrew, and Freestyle Capital.
Doug is a rare breed. He has deep knowledge of SaaS, is a very productive board member and he connects with the entrepreneurs he invests in. Doug is refreshingly candid, collaborative and easy to work with. Overall, a great venture partner for us.
