Doug joined Shasta in 2016 to lead investments in Enterprise Cloud startups. He was the first investor in Marketo (MKTO) and served on its Board for 10 years, helping the company grow from an idea into an industry-leading public company. Doug’s current investments include, Lattice, SendBird, and Skilljar.

Prior to Shasta, Doug was a general partner at InterWest Partners for 15 years. He has supported dozens of SaaS startups and led investments in Braze, Flurry (acquired by Yahoo), INVIDI (acquired by AT&T & WPP), Lombardi (acquired by IBM), Marketo (IPO), Markettools (acquired by SurveyMonkey), (acquired by Zendesk), Spredfast (acquired by Vista Equity Partners), Totango and Varolii (acquired by Nuance Communications). He is an investor in leading seed funds Angelpad, Homebrew, and Freestyle Capital.

Doug began his career as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs before working (briefly) in business development at He received his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College and his M.B.A. degree from Stanford University. Doug lives in Burlingame, Calif., with his wife, Kim, and their three children.
